Elsa A. Murano

Elsa A. Murano was appointed Vice Chancellor and Dean of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 2005 and also serves as Director of the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station. In 2001, she was appointed Undersecretary for Food Safety, U. S. Department of Agriculture, by President George W. Bush. She served as the highest ranking food safety official in the United States government, with the responsibility of overseeing the policies and programs of the Food Safety Inspection Service (FSIS). Prior to this appointment, she was appointed professor in the Department of Animal Science at Texas A&M University after having been an associate professor in that same department since 1995. She is a native of Havana, Cuba.

Rumaldo Juárez

Class of 1966

Rumaldo Juárez has served as President of TAMU- Kingsville since 2002. He received his doctoral degree in rural sociology from Penn State University and has bachelor’s and master’s degrees in sociology from Texas A&M University in College Station. He was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps and is a Vietnam Veteran.

Orfelina “Fena” Garza

Class of 2000

Orfelina “Fena” Garza, is President of the Houston Community Campus (HCC) Southeast College. She has worked as part of HCC for 30 years, starting in the Upward Bound Program and working her way up to President. She is the only Latina President in the HCC system.
