Aggie Moms are a
vital part of student life

Rachel Gonzáles

In 1983 Rachel Gonzáles, a San Antonio native, was the first Hispanic to become the President of the Federation of Texas A&M University Mothers’ Clubs. At the time of her election, she was the librarian at Highlands High School. She was a member of a large Aggie family with her eight brothers, her husband Ralph, her son Robert and numerous nieces and nephews all graduating from Texas A&M. In 1956, the student body of Texas A&M voted her mother, María V. Reyes, “Aggie Mother of the Year.”
